Points of concern among parents
This year, the newly appointed principal introduced several programs focused on literacy, numeracy, and wellbeing. However, the implementation appears to lack adequate preparation. Students are reportedly confused, as teachers seem unfamiliar with the new content.
Due to a shortage of teaching staff, some classes have been merged—such as Years 5 and 6, 7 and 8, and 11 and 12—despite each year level having different learning goals. Such combined classes raise concerns about whether students can reach their full academic potential.
There have been reports of ongoing issues between the school and neighboring villagers. Trash is often burned nearby, and the resulting smoke affects students playing outside. In some cases, stones have been thrown over the concrete wall, nearly hitting students.
Another concern involves a student who has failed to advance to the next year level for two consecutive years, remaining at the same level for nearly three years. There have been instances where the student left school early without permission. Multiple cases of cheating during exams using a cellphone have also been reported. Despite these issues, the principal chose not to expel the student, which may undermine the values of fairness and discipline among students who follow school rules.
Additionally, certain new students from Kuta appear to be receiving preferential treatment. They are permitted to leave school earlier than the scheduled dismissal time and are exempt from participating in the Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) program, unlike their peers. This raises questions about the nature of any arrangements made between the school and the parents of these students.
In terms of facilities, the school does not offer amenities such as an indoor sports hall, multipurpose hall, music studio, athletic track, swimming pool, or elevator. Even basic classroom availability is limited, causing difficulties in scheduling lessons for students.
